Asteroids: Peril or Promise? | St. Louis Space Frontier @ The Venture Café Gathering (Havana) | St. Louis | Missouri | United States

St. Louis Space Frontier invites you participate in our Asteroid Day event, a panel discussion on the perils and promises of asteroids. Asteroid Day is a global awareness campaign where people from around the world come together to learn about asteroids, the impact hazards they may pose, and what we can do to protect our communities, families, future generations, and, truly, the entire planet from eventual asteroid impacts. Our panel will focus on answering these questions: What is an asteroid? What is a comet and what research is being done in St. Louis on comets? Are asteroids and comets serious threats? If so, what can we do to protect Earth? On the other hand, how can asteroids be used to help the people on Earth and the people in space with needed resources? Are asteroid impact craters useful? If so, how can St. Louis entrepreneurs take advantage of the Missouri craters for profit? These questions will be answered by several experts: Mohammad Saki, doctoral student, UMSL and St. Louis Space Frontier members: Dave Dietzler, Philip Newell, Christine Nobbe, and Bob Perry.
