Making Dollars and Sense of the Market for Inventions | Inventors Association of St. Louis (IASL) @ The Venture Café Gathering (James Crutchfield) | St. Louis | Missouri | United States

The market for inventions is a piece of the big economic puzzle, and it fits together with markets for goods and services. Big businesses often know this connection, but beginning inventors often don’t. In this session, Scott Gilbert, professor of economics at SIU-Carbondale, will help inventors make economic sense of the market for inventions, with the inventor as a player in a multi-stage “game” that brings improved products to market.  Several real-world examples will be used to illustrate this game, tracking the life-cycle of successful inventions and inventors, while highlighting common pitfalls.
