The Inside Track: A Tale of Two Entrepreneurs | Bayer @ The Venture Café Gathering (Havana) | St. Louis | Missouri | United States

Join Mark Young, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Product, The Climate Corporation, and Jeremy Williams, Head of Biotechnology at Bayer, as they tell the stories of their unexpected career paths. Mark spent 20 years in Silicon Valley creating technology solutions focused on the mobile industry, but he founded his first company while still in college. Now, he has returned to his farm roots at The Climate Corporation, which puts data at the fingertips of farmers to help them improve productivity and make more efficient use of resources. At Bayer, Jeremy Williams identifies emerging technologies and forges partnerships with disruptive innovators, but he started his career on the opposite end of the innovation continuum. Jeremy founded Divergence Inc., a biotechnology R&D startup that was acquired by Monsanto in 2011. Mark and Jeremy will share tales from their storied careers, discuss what it takes to build successful corporate-startup relationships, and explain why big companies need to think like startups. This discussion will be moderated by Dr. Cheryl Watkins-Moore, Co-Host of the Entrepreneurially Thinking Podcast & Director of the STEM Entrepreneurial Inclusion Initiative at BioSTL.
