Last week, the graphic videos of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile being shot by police officers evoked global efforts for conditions in America to improve. As people in the African-American community watched the footage, they saw men die before their eyes that looked like their fathers, brothers, uncles, nephews, and friends. As allies from other communities watched, they also internalized the deep trauma and worked to support efforts to make conditions better. These videos were a clear reminder of how important it is for people to educate themselves on the systemic issues and find their role in dismantling systems of oppression.

In this session, we will…
1)Unpack the systemic issues that lead to police shootings
2)Discuss the impact of violence locally and globally
3)Identify initiatives that are working to dismantle systemic injustices
